47. Against the Flow
Thoughts and images from Fergus, Ontario, Canada, 2021.
At times, going "against the flow" and looking at things in a different way or from a different perspective can reveal new and exciting possibilities. Insights or interpretations that might otherwise go unnoticed may be revealed.

Artist Statement (Against the Flow):
At times, going "against the flow" and looking at things in a different way or from a different perspective can reveal new and exciting possibilities. Insights or interpretations that might otherwise go unnoticed may be revealed. This is especially true in photography, often resulting in artists producing abstracted images and images that can make the viewer question whether or not the subject actually exists.
As a case in point, these photographs were taken while standing on the shore next to a fast flowing river. When I happened, by chance, to look at the original prints from a different perspective, they gradually revealed, to me, a new and dynamic world complete with its own cast of characters. This was a world that I would not have discovered without going "against the flow", but one that intrigued me enough to become the focus of this series of images.
This series of photographs was taken in 2021.
