Thoughts and images from Waterloo, Ontario, 2020/21.
During this past year I have spent a lot of time walking. The physical exercise has been a necessity, but the long walks, especially in natural settings, have also provided opportunities to put pandemic-related emotions into perspective.

Artist Statement (2020...2021):
During this past year I have spent a lot of time walking. The physical exercise has been a necessity, but the long walks, especially in natural settings, have also provided opportunities to put pandemic-related emotions into perspective. This series of photographs has grown from these walks.
The photos were captured while hiking through a large forested area. The blurring effect is intentional and was achieved by keeping the camera shutter open while I was walking. Each photograph is a record of my journey walking through the forest for a 3 to 5 second interval of time. To me the images are a metaphor for the day-by-day journey, with all of its ups and downs, that we are taking through 2020 and 2021 with the Covid-19 cloud hovering over us.
This series of photographs was taken from 2020 to 2021.
