7. Reflecting on Waterloo
Thoughts and images from Waterloo, Ontario, Canada , 2009.
We all need time for reflection, to think about present situations, paths taken, and choices to be made, whether it be in our personal lives, career paths, or other pursuits.

Artist Statement (Reflecting on Waterloo):
We all need time for reflection. To think about present situations, paths taken and choices to be made, whether it be in our personal lives, career paths or other pursuits. Only through reflection do we have the opportunity to stand back and gain perspective, to see the big picture and to recognize smaller details that we might otherwise miss.
Likewise with our physical surroundings. Unless we take time to reflect upon them, many aspects can go unnoticed as we go about our daily lives. Only when we contemplate our environment, from the seemingly insignificant details to the overall scene, do we gain a true understanding and appreciation for what it is, how it has evolved, how it is changing, and where it is going.
Hopefully, these photographs, shot as reflections, will cause viewers to pause and reflect upon the environment known as the city of Waterloo. (Those familiar with the city may wish to solve the puzzle of where my tripod’s legs stood to capture the images.)
This series of photographs was taken in 2009.
Images from the series (click to view): Woman with Glasses, Spreading Tree, Mannequins.
